The grounds of the New Ing are no stranger to a great sunset

House & Contents

The house has 11 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms sleeping all together 30 people. The breakdown of the rooms is the following:

2 x doubles with their own private bathrooms (one bed in king size)
2 x double ensuite (one is king size double)
2 x triple en suite (both a king size double and a single)
2 x family en suite (both king size double and 2 singles + space for a cot if required)
1 x twin room with private bathroom
1 x 4-bedded dormitory rooms with private bathroom

We can add an additional 2 fold up beds if required taking the total to 32, but these are only suitable for children

All the bedding and towels are provided for the bedrooms and there’s complementary shower gels and hand washes in the bathrooms.

Besides the bedrooms, we have a comfortable living room with a log burner and adjoining dining room that can easily sit 24 guests. There is also a large kitchen with an 5-ring gas hob,  large oven and plenty of fridge space in two full heigh fridges plus one small chest freezer

We also have a 10 person sauna situated in the garden, accessed via the undercover area. Please note – if you plan on using the sauna you will need to bring your own beach towels for this, as use of the white bath towles from the house is not permitted outside.

You can find everything for your self-catering needs in the kitchen including plates, glasses, bowls, cutlery, pots pans and utensils etc. We do have some serving dishes, however if you are planning on cooking a large buffet style meal you may wish to bring some of your own serving dishes/platters. Otherwise you will find most things you would expect in the kitchen

Photos of the house can be found in the gallery.

Grounds & Garden

There is an acre of kept grounds at the back of the building, which is perfect for running around for kids and adults alike. There are also a couple of picnic tables and an undercover seating/smoking area as well as a charcoal barbecue for you to use (you would need to bring your own charcoal). We also have a fire pit and a circular seating area around it. Please bring your own wood for the fire pit.

There is also a small play park for children at the back of the garden. Please note – this is not exclusive use and there may be others using this area of the site.

We are dog friendly
Super king and king size doubles throughout the property
Our bar is perfect for group use and we can even arrange a barrel for you!

Bar

You can also be the landlord/lady of your own little pub here at New Ing Lodge. Our cosy bar ‘The Staggering Wanderer’ can fit many happy people and we’d be more than happy to stock it with some delicious local ales and lager. We offer beers from our local Tirril Brewery, located within 15 miles from our door.
There are plenty of pint glasses, wine glasses, champagne flutes and tumblers to make serving easy. Of course you are also welcome to complement the beer with any of your own drinks of choice that you might want to bring with you.

Please give us at least 4 weeks notice if you’d like to order beer through us!

Point to note: Although we have the bar on site, and we love for you all to have a great get together with friends and family, we class ourselves more of a social gathering venue than a ‘Party’ venue. If you are hoping to play very loud music and disco the night away, we are not the venue for you unfortunately as we are located in a rural village with residential neighbors nearby. We of course are happy for you to play music at a reasonable level and enjoy yourselves, but we ask that this is turned off outside the building at 10.30pm, and down to a gentle background level after 11pm inside the building.

Your stay

Parking: there is room for up to 10 cars on site in front or side of the house.  If you have more than 10 vehicles, you might need to park some of the off site on the road.

Checking in: check in is from 15:30 onwards on the day of your arrival. Please let us know before when you are planning to arrive so that we can arrange to be here for that time. A member of staff will show you in and give you the ins and outs of everything you need to know about the house.

Checking out: check out is by 10:30 on the day of your departure.

Dogs: we are dog friendly and you are welcome to bring your four-legged friends to have a good time with you. We just ask that you pick up after your dog and don’t allow them on furniture

Shap village has a Co-op, which is just two minutes’ walk down the road from us and it’s open every day from 7 am to 10 pm (times vary on bank holidays). There is also an award-winning fish & chip shop and three pubs and a cafe all of which are in walking distance.

Things to do

You will not find yourself in lack of things to do in the area. We are located just on the edge of the Lake District, which is a great playground for all sorts of outdoor activities.

The Pennines and the lesser known but just as magnificent Howgills are only a short drive away. They all offer wonderful days out for walking.

Lowther Castle and Gardens are only a 15-minute drive away from us and offer enough to do and see for everyone. Their Lost Castle Playground is so good that many adults forget their age as they try the climbs and slides next to the kids!

If you are looking for organised activities for your friends and family, we know and can recommend local people who we trust to deliver memorable days.
