New Ing Lodge

Without a doubt, the weeks of summer holidays are the most anticipated time of the year by grown ups and children alike. While everyone is looking forward to some time off, we are excited to have loads of people coming through our door with their stories and laughter and we can’t wait to be part of their summer adventures.

IMG_20170625_181340_569The time for planning your summer holidays is now. Cumbria is always bustling in July and August with holiday makers who come here for all sorts of reasons. There are certainly plenty of options for things to do and things to see in the Lake District! The newly achieved World Heritage status will bring many a curious visitor to the area. With any luck, the snow from this cold winter will have melted by then as well!

If the crowds and busy country roads are not what you are looking for on your precious days off but the fells and the lakes are what tickle your fancy then New Ing Lodge could be a perfect base for you. We are located just outside the border of the national park but conveniently just a few minutes off J39 of the M6. There are plenty to see and do here but there are much fewer people around and you can truly experience the wilderness and authenticity of the area.

For the outdoorsy people out there, we have plenty of walks from the door or only a short drive away. We are currently busy testing out and writing up a punch of routes that we can recommend to our guests. Keep an eye on this space to find out more! Our guests with two-wheeled friends have also plenty of options to ride on the road or head out mountain biking. There are plenty of good routes for both options. Ullswater is only half an hour’s drive from our door and it offers loads of water-based fun from paddle boarding and row boats to leisurely cruises with steamers.

We cannot recommend enough Lowther Castle and Gardens to IMGP5120families that come through our door. It has something to offer for children, parents and grandparents all of whom will enjoy the most awesome playground ever built (in our opinion). There are plenty of events on throughout the summer, which you can check on their website. It is also worth keeping an eye on the Visit Eden website to find out about local events from farmer’s markets to guided walks and courses for skills.

There are so many reasons why to plan your summer holidays in Cumbria. We can promise you won’t get bored. We would be honoured to offer you a home away from home for your adventures in the Lake District and beyond. Just hurry as the dates for July and August will sell out quickly!

We still have some availability for bed & breakfast over summer, you can check the live availability and book directly on our calendar here. We do have some special offers for exclusive use of the lodge in August as well: 7 nights from 17th of August for £3800 and 4 nights from 27th of August for £2750 (full price for exclusive use £750 per night). We sleep up to 30 people in our 10 bedrooms, so we’re a perfect base for the most awesome summer holidays with friends and family. You can find all the information about exclusive use here.
